About Paul
Paul is CEO at Ciqurix, a developer and manufacturer of video flame detection technology for challenging industrial, outdoor, high-risk and architecturally complex environments.
He specialises in company building, fundraising and commercialisation, bringing a background that spans military leadership and business — including service as an officer in the British Army in the UK and overseas, including Afghanistan, and a degree from UCL.
At Ciqurix, Paul's work focuses on strategy, fundraising and commercial direction, having led the business for nine years through institutional investment and the world's first LPS 1976 certification for its CORE System. This reflects the practical realities of scaling a deep-tech company — balancing technical certification demands, investor expectations and commercial growth in a specialist, safety-critical market.
Areas of Expertise
Paul's areas of professional and technical expertise include:
Fundraising & Investor Relations – Led Ciqurix through nine years of investment activity, including institutional fundraising and SEIS/EIS-qualifying rounds, working with investors including venture capital fund Midwich Ignite, and building and managing relationships with investors and board members.
Go-to-Market Strategy – Designed and built Ciqurix's route to market through the Manufacturer - Distributor - Installer/Integrator - End User model, supported by an independent Specifier layer, to scale a specialist fire detection product into a fragmented industry.
Commercialisation of Novel Technology – Took Ciqurix's CORE System from concept to the world's first LPS 1976 certification, translating a technical breakthrough into a certified, commercially viable product.
Corporate Governance – Manages board relationships and governance obligations across a growing company with institutional shareholders, balancing founder leadership with investor oversight.
Leadership Under Pressure – Brings leadership experience from service as an officer in the British Army, including operational deployment to Afghanistan, to high-pressure commercial decision-making.

Paul is CEO of Ciqurix, a role he has held for nine years, leading the company from early-stage development through to the world's first LPS 1976 certification for its CORE System. Under his leadership, Ciqurix has built out its senior technical and commercial teams, established its route to market through distributor and installer partners, and secured institutional investment, including from venture capital fund Midwich Ignite, alongside SEIS/EIS-qualifying fundraising rounds.
Before Ciqurix, Paul worked in finance in the City of London and Singapore, where he qualified in investment advice – experience that underpins his approach to fundraising, investor relations and commercial strategy at Ciqurix.
Paul studied at UCL before serving as an officer in the British Army, including deployments in the UK and overseas, including combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This combination of academic, military and financial and commercial experience has shaped his approach to building and running Ciqurix.

Paul contributes to Ciqurix's work in business strategy, commercial direction and fundraising, including setting company strategy, leading investor relations and fundraising activity, managing board relationships, and building and leading the senior team.
His expertise supports the development and application of Ciqurix video flame detection technology, including CORE, the company's primary fire detection system designed for compliance with BS 5839-1, by ensuring the commercial, financial and organisational foundations are in place for the technology to reach market and scale.
Paul's direct contribution includes leading Ciqurix through its LPS 1976 certification from a business and commercial perspective, securing institutional investment, and building the senior team responsible for product, standards and delivery.
